If you have green spots on your pool walls due to algae, and hate brushing them because it doesn’t work so well, follow this tip!

Use a regular, ordinary towel to wipe down the walls once in the pool. The green washes out of the towel when it is laundered as usual.

I was watching this hoping for a hack but I guess your hack was already my hack. lol I've been using the towel and old t shirt method for years. What I was hoping for was yet an easier way. I think you, like me, tend to focus on clarity and less on pool chemicals because technically, with shock and proper chemicals, neither of us should get this crap. Thanks and glad you have found the same method.

I'm going to jump in now with an old towel and clean all that algae away! I've been using the brush and "shock" and 4 tabs of chlorine and adding "weekly" but it wont go away. I never thought to just wipe it away. Thank you for the entertaining and educational clip! Best of luck to you.

Actually, that's a brilliant idea in its simplicity. I could relate to the awkwardness of trying to brush the algae off the walls of the pool. That's it! Just hop in the pool with a towel. But, the REAL question that needs to be asked is: Why did the algae form on the walls in the first place? Because, if you don't address that problem, you'll be back in the pool with your towel again and again and again. But, I'm sure that goes without saying. The point of your "life hack" was not pool chemistry – but simply removing the algae from the walls. THEN you can properly chemical your pool. I was thinking of filling my pool with pure Clorox. That should solve my algae problem but it would probably be a little hard on the eyes. IDEA! Simply swim with your eyes closed. Problem solved!

Daisy D says:

Won't the algae that's now floating in the pool just settle back on the pool sides/bottom once you've 'cleaned' it w/a towel?

corisco tupi says:

Great video! …What about algae that grows solid between tiles? They form a hard layer that is very time consuming to individually remove between every tile. Any idea for those – other than "don't let them grow i the first place"? Other than this, my pool is very clear.
